Altered Projects
Wednesday, June 11, 2008
When I started to notice "Altered" projects on Two Peas in a Bucket several years ago I thought it was odd. I could not picture myself doing anything resembling an "Altered" project. Things always change somehow--never say never. Last year I totally got into the 'altered tins'. I even ended up teaching a class on them at the Ladies' Retreat!!!
I got an excellent deal on them on Ebay and I have several left-which suits me just fine :) I think they are perfect for mini baby books. I have made 2 for that purpose and 1 for my Mom to keep some of her grandchildren's photos in.
I am getting ready to make 2 more and I am so excited! I found such great baby boy papers--one is Crate Paper and the other is a K&Company slab. I will have to wait to post pictures of these projects--but check back in in the next couple of weeks b/c I am going to LOVE making these! Here are two examples:

School's Out!
Thursday, June 5, 2008
I can't believe Summer is already here!
This means that Caleb is a JUNIOR in High School, Jacob IS in High School-- A Freshman!!! and our baby-Nate is in Middle School!!! No more Elementary School visits. *Sigh* Time marches on and every moment I treasure with my sweet boys.
Nate promptly called to see if he could stay at his friend's house and have a water balloon fight, Jacob made plans to go spend the night with his best friend, and Caleb worked on the garden and made sure he was ready for his first day in college tomorrow. How cool is that?!
Summer will fly by us with football camps, Boy Scout Camp, ACC courses, and a trip to San Antonio to have some family time. I am looking forward to capturing all these cool happenings on my new Canon Digital Rebel. I have watched the DVD twice, but I'm signing up for a beginning photography course with Candice Stringham on the new and improved Jessica Sprague website.
Her new and improved design ROCKS! I'm going to have to find me some time and do a custom design for my ajwdesigns site. I tried Joomla and it was PAINfully slow. I installed Wordpress but I have not had time to tweak it yet---YET!

Lately...
I have not had one moment that is not spoken for, but I want to reattempt to get this blog thing going again.
Today I took Jake and his friends to Starbucks on the way to their house for a sleepover. I was talking to the boys about this year's youth camp and asked them if they were excited. They asked me if I was doing the T-shirt design again and I told them that the theme this year is 'Recharged'. Jonathan said- "Why don't you use an energy drink can for the design?" BRILLIANT! That was such a FABULOUS idea!
I am so excited about working on the Quest T-shirt for this year! I had begun working on a first idea for this year's T-shirt about 4 days ago and ran out of time. Caleb has some SERIOUS Photoshop Skillz! He did the work on the realistic looking drink can while I worked on the design. I think it may end up with lightning bolts behind it. It also still needs the Scripture reference and some other minor details.
So--here is what came of that conversation:
Now--this is not going to be the T-shirt FOR SURE-because this year I am sharing this fun with Erick--but I think it's a great start even if it doesn't make the cut.
Mercedes!!!
Monday, May 12, 2008
WOW!!! Something unexpectedly fabulous happened to us in March-- First, our Honda kicked the bucket so we sold it to the mechanic for $300 for parts. We were happily sharing our minivan and planning to take advantage of the economic stimulus package and buy a nice Toyota Avalon from a coworker in May.
Well, God works in MYSTERIOUS ways for sure! I was mentioning how much exercise I was going to be getting riding my bike to work and how busy things are now that I'm working 2 jobs. (I go back and forth working at the hospital and the surgery center). Apparently, the Lord layed it on my friend's heart that she could fill the need sooner than May and she announced to me that she had a Mercedes sitting in her driveway and she would like me to have it!!! I was dumbfounded to say the least! This was so unexpected--what a generous act! I called Bob and told him and he was speechless. We went over to her house to pick it up and the funniest thing had happened-- a rat had tried to make a nest in the engine and chewed through the wires.
We were still excited and grateful. The boys just thought it was the best thing since sliced bread :) After having it towed and our mechanic got it in running order we now have a 2nd vehicle--and a very unexpected blessing! Praise the Lord!
