Wow, what a cool time we had with the Youth last night at APP! I even ventured to climb the rock wall and reminded myself how out of shape I am :) It was really great to hang out with Audra and Laura and get to know some of the kids a little bit more.

Three of the boys spent the night here and had a blast staying up all night. We took the whole gaggle to Wal Mart to get pancake mix and breakfast fixins. They played a card game called Peanut Butter and Jelly, played X-box, pranked each other with toothpaste while they slept, and stayed up past 5 am. They even took pictures of their escapades for posterity while Bob and I slept. Nate was the first to rise (as always)so he got me up and we made chocolate chip pancakes for everyone. Bob made scrambled eggs and it was so cool to have all those boys sitting around enjoying each other's company. After I got up from the table, a small Redi Whip fight erupted, but it was short lived since the cans were all but empty. Jake photographed some of that for me, too.

I REALLY wanted to go to the Scrapbook Expo today, in spite of the fact that I have some web development contracts pending, so I'll have to do the *responsible* thing and get to work.

Thursday my boss announced that her last day would be May 9. This was a HUGE blow to all of us at work. She is the best boss most of us have had. She is so 'hands on'--she would never ask you to do anything she wouldn't do herself. She is always in the OR helping, whether it's starting an IV to mopping the floor--she is genuine and sweet and most of us were either tearing up or outright crying when she made the announcement to a small group of us. It really is like having a family member move away. She will always have a special place in my heart because of the fact that she was the only one to give me a chance after being out for 3 years. I'm really going to miss her.

Bob and I have talked about me going back to school to get my RN for a couple of weeks now. Previously, I was adamantly opposed to getting my RN for several legitimate reasons. I really don't like how doctors treat nurses, nurses and teachers are the hardest working, least appreciated profession in my book, if I become a nurse I will probably forfeit my opportunity to assist in surgery unless I become a CFA, I really didn't want to put Carol in a pickle by leaving to go to school.....lots of reasons. At this point, however, those reasons are looking less and less imperative when I think of the flexibility I would gain due to the high demand for RN's here due to a shortage. So, I will be declaring my major and likely signing up to redo my A&P since they can't be over 5 years old and I graduated in 2002.

My First Post!

Well, I never thought it would happen, but here I am-- blogging! This is an effort to journal and get my thoughts down. Life is going at a breakneck speed and I want to be able to look back and remember all the stories when/if life ever slows down.

The Title means that the adjectives and adverbs to describe my life change by the minute--one second I'm a surgeon's assistant and the next I'm the mother of 3.

Today was a classic example of the busy-ness. 6:30 case, go, go, go--(By the way, I LOVE my job and I LOVE the go, go, go of the operating room) All of a sudden--eeeeeeerrrrrrrch a screeching halt--all the work is done and I can clock out and leave........hmmmmm going home early for a nap might be a novel idea.... During the drive home I got 3 messages and called 3 important people and made arrangements for even more busy-ness in the upcoming week.

Somehow I resisted the urge to stop in at Starbuck's--even though I had enough cash in my pocket to buy a refreshing, delicious Grande Mocha Frappucino. I talked to my sister about having my nephew spend the night Friday night and how great it would be to sign Nate and Caleb up for a Game Design summer camp.

When I walked through the door I heard the familiar "Hello" from upstairs---Oh yeah, I forgot it was early release today! It is so rare that I get off early when the kids do that I had completely dumped it from my brain. So, I said 'Hi' to Nate and asked how his day went. He told me that the other 2 weren't home yet.

I got on the phone and took care of some Business for HopeSpring Design and ended up on the computer updating a website. I had about an hour before my website meeting downtown, so I did some digi-scrapping and answered email. While perusing another scrapper's gallery I was reminded of Psalm 139:13-16---some of my most favorite verses. For some reason I decided that it should be shared with the Youth that Bob & I have recently been getting to know. We'll see what the response is. I think I tend to be way too serious.

So....the rest of the evening entailed a phone call from a principal, a website meeting, a doctor's appointment (a research study--so maybe I'll grow a 3rd eye or something), a stop at Starbuck's, home to refresh, Scouts, and now here---phew!

Tomorrow will not be any more slow paced, but I love my life just how
God has made it.
